Change

The Chain of Change

Everything is change. Once an organization has developed a vision with an audacious goal (such as: what do we want to achieve in five years’ time?), that then leads to a strategy to realize that audacious goal. So you will need to change.

70% of all change processes fail. That is because implementation is very difficult. A change process is a journey that takes many years, in which the art is to continually retain direction of the process, so also in case of set-backs or if focus weakens, but also pressing through when hard-fought milestones have been reached. It is a fascinating journey that you make together and that leads to breakthroughs and a deep connection between people.

Changing an organization is a process that runs through the Chain of Change:

  1. Mobilization of energy: people feel that things must change, there is a sense of urgency and excitement.
  2. First who, then what: a guiding coalition is set up that can and wants to take the lead.
  3. Vision and strategy: a vision and strategy are developed together that will guide everything.
  4. Activation and anchoring: the vision and strategy have been set to work and anchored in the organizational culture.

The elements of the Chain of Change are connected to each other. Of course there is a sequence in the change, but once it’s under way each of the elements will be monitored continually: will the vision remain visible, is the sense of urgency still present, how committed does the top of the organization still remain?

Change at a personal level

Realizing breakthroughs primarily takes place at a personal level - in the hearts and minds of the people who work in organizations. A breakthrough at a personal level involves gaining insight and translating this into concrete activity. &samhoud helps people in organizations to gain new insights and with developing the responsibility to also act according to these insights, within the framework of the organizational vision.
